Hope for a Better World: Adopt a School Alotenango Basic Education & Literacy Global Grant Project Transforms Lives of 500+ Students and Teachers in Guatemala
The Rotary Club of Jasper, in partnership with Rotary Club Nueva Guatemala in Guatemala City, and with the financial support from more than 16 Rotary Clubs in Canada, the USA, and Guatemala (including 10 from Rotary District 5370!) is making a profound and positive impact to more than 500 students and teachers in a small, rural farming community SW of Guatemala City through the Adopt a School Alotenango Global Grant Project.
This initiative is a combined basic education & literacy and community economic development project that was approved this past December 2024 for almost $92,000 USD. The project will provide furnishings for a new 5-classroom Junior High School (including computer equipment & furnishings for a new 30 station computer lab), training for teachers, purchase specialized equipment to improve vocational training programs for sewing, beauty, and hairdressing, school kitchen improvements to increase capacity of breakfast and lunch programs, and purchase of shoes for students as part of the Bendicion de Dios School Shoes for School StudentProgram to support families still impacted by COVID and to ensure safety of students.

The Rotary Club of Nisku-Leduc is pleased to present an evening of Ukrainian music and dance: The performance includes; Ukrainian Violinist Viktoria Gyrnenko, Ukrainian Band “Steppe” and Shumka and Zirka dancers.
