On December 19, dental student Yiying Huang, presented the story of the "Access For All Dentistry" program, a field dentistry project designed to serve the Metis communities of Alberta.

This program was initiated by Riverview Rotarian and dentist, Dr. Suzy Depledge.  This student led dental project,  has completed two field campaigns this year, one in Cold Lake and one in Medicine Hat. Learnings from each field campaign are used to improve future work.  For each campaign, the team of 20 people, consisting of dentists, hygienists, technicians and administrators, setup 5 dental care work stations in facilities arranged by the Metis Nation of Alberta. The Metis Nation organizes the patients and the schedule. Over a one week period, the team provides dental services, including root canals, for up to 100 people.

Note: The Rotary Club of Edmonton Riverview has provided financial support for this project, allowing them to purchase a portable dental chair.
