Wow, what a presentation by Tim Parker, Ph.D. Tim recently retired after teaching psychology for 37 years at the University of Alberta. His presentation on addictions seems timely with the drug crisis gripping Canada. He shared his insight into how the "high" experienced from taking drugs diminishes over time. Also that addiction is often associated with surroundings, location and time of day. Even after rehabilitation, if these conditions are encountered, there is a high risk of a relapse.
