The "Royal Alexandra Hospital"... Most everyone has been in this hospital over the years. Some club members were born there, had children there, some have had surgery there, many of us have had loved ones as patients there. The "Alex", which has been in operation since 1899, is the busiest hospital in Alberta serving over 500,000 patients annually. Also, since it reaches 1/3 of Canada's land mass, it is also referred to as Canada's "hospital of the north".
Morrel Wax and Emily Lennstrom of the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation shared with members the many unique challenges and specialized services offered at the Alex. But also the importance of the role of philanthropy in healthcare.
