Operation Friendship Seniors Society (OFSS) is a non-profit society that provides community-based preventative social services to the seniors of Edmonton’s inner city. They provide safe, affordable non-institutional housing options. RC Edmonton Riverview has been a long time supporter of OFSS through the funding and serving of meals, clothing drives, flowers in the spring and many other activities.
Today we had Jimmy Morrison and William Maravilla from OFSS gave club members an update on their facilities and operations. OFSS operate and manage four buildings in Edmonton's inner city, providing over 300 affordable housing units. Some of the facilities offer independent living while others provide onsite meals and more care. They also manage a "store" where those in need can obtain necessary items of clothing, particularly winter coats, boots and gloves. Riverview Rotarians look forward to continuing with to support OFSS both with funds and help with hands-on-projects. Jimmy and William, thank you for all you do for those less fortunate in our community.
