Anyone spending any time in Edmonton, will know that the rapid transit system, the LRT, is being expanded both west and south. Traffic interruptions are a necessary evil to allow the construction of such ambitious projects.  The $2.6B, "Valley Line West" project will see the  new construction of 14 km of track from downtown to Lewis Estates (west of West Edmonton Mall). The second major project underway is the $1.3B Capital Line South expansion from Century Park to Ellerslie Road.  Rowan Anderson, from the City of Edmonton provided background and a progress update on both challenging projects that will transform Edmonton's public transportation network. We all look forward to seeing this projects completed in the coming years and put to use by the citizens of Edmonton.

The unique "elevated gantry crane" used for the construction of the skyway bridge south of West Edmonton Mall reduce traffic disruptions. First time this has ever been used in Edmonton.
