Geneva Accords from an Israeli Perspective

I usually like to give a mini article on the topics shared at our Rotary meetings.  We are fortunate to have so many wonderful people join us and share.  Abe Silverman was one of these lovely people.  Unfortunately, I will not be writing about our discussion because frankly, most of what was discussed was way above my comprehension and understanding of the situations in the Middle East.  I can honestly say that I am absolutely, one hundred percent ignorant to all that is happening in the Middle East.  I know there is tension, fighting, anger and I used to be one of those people thinking “One side just has to give up the anger, hate and fear and then it will be all better.”  After listening to Abe, it finally donned on me that the situation in the Middle East is like an “onion” is has hundreds of layers upon layers that has created an intricately complicated scenario.

 

I cannot begin to understand and fathom how people survive in situations which at any second bombs could be raining down overhead.  I am fortunate to have been born and raised in Edmonton.  A Canadian who, when I first moved out of my house was five whole blocks from where I spent my entire childhood, and now with my new home only four blocks away.  My parents and grandparents live close by.  My daughter has a day-home seven blocks from me.  And I am so lucky to have this peace, security and the opportunities I have been given. I can definitely say that today I took another long look at my life and said thank you for what I have.
