On May 9, Riverview Rotary sponsored a “Petting Zoo” at Delton School, located in central Edmonton. Christine, from the Delton School, was extremely grateful for Riverview’s sponsorship and participation (several members also attended). The Petting Zoo provided the students with an incredible experience but has also conveyed a powerful message of community and shared responsibility.
Riverview Rotary has had a long partnership with this school. This one experience, contributes to the overall well-being of the students and reinforces the sense of community, belonging, and value within the school. Many of the students at Delton were struck with a sense of connection and emotion when connecting with the volunteers and animals. For them to know that individuals beyond their own community appreciate and believe in them is a gift that will carry beyond this experience.
