Riverview Rotarian Lora Lee Peaslee shared with members the accomplishments from the most recent "Believe in Belize" mission carried out November 17-24, 2023. What an inspiring project!
The team travelled down with 19 hockey bags, with a total shipping weight of almost 1000 pounds. Lora Lee, with Rotarian Lindsay Robinson, brother Blaine, and Hannah and Donna, spent a busy and productive week in Belize. The group refurbished sewing machines, made renovations on facilities, and worked with ladies (many of whom are single mothers) to start a variety of new sewing projects. On this trip, the group focused on making handbags, shopping bags and other items. The team returned to Canada with 70 bags made by the ladies in the two cooperatives (Belize City and Sandhill). These bags will be sold at coming Rotary events. Watch for them at the District 5370 Conference (May 3 & 4, 2024).
