The Rotary Club of Edmonton South and Rotarians across District 5370 mourn the passing of Henk Hendricks, an outstanding gentleman and Rotarian.
Henk Hendricks' involvement and support improved our club; his service inspired our members; his friendship and connections engaged us; his commitment was a model of dedication; and his generosity set the standard for Rotarian gifting. His influence within Rotary was due to his integrity, his respectful approach to issues, his leadership in supporting the Rotary Foundation, and his support for the projects that touched the lives of so many. His bequest of one million dollars to the Rotary Foundation will continue to improve the lives of those in need.Henk joined Edmonton South Rotary on May 1, 1965, and had perfect attendance. He was a strong supporter of community projects: Harvest Fair at Fort Edmonton Park, Strathcona Place Seniors, and Arch Enterprises—to name a few.
Internationally, he was recognized by Operation Eye Sight for his long-time support in establishing eye clinics in India and has supported school projects and literacy in Mexico, as well as a project providing meals for school children in Puerto Vallarta.
Henk was a successful businessman and property developer, and extensive traveller. He was a florist and avid gardener, and winner of many awards for his beautiful yard. Henk will be missed, but his legacy of service above self, his graciousness, and model of generosity will continue to motivate and lead our members to greater service.
