CSTA SOVA is partnering with CodeVA to teach you how to teach coding in your classroom using Finch 2.0 robots!
Who can participate?
K-12 public school teachers are welcome! Even if you do not think of yourself as a computer science teacher, you CAN learn how to code a Finch robot! This event is free, but you must be a member of CSTA SOVA (also free - join CSTA SOVA here!). The first 30 teachers to signup receive a Finch 2.0 robot like the one shown in the event image!
What will I learn?
This training series will focus on learning to use the Finch 2.0 robot and how to incorporate it in your classroom.
Topics include:
- Get to know programming using Finch robots
- Deep dive with Finch robots
- Finch classroom activities to build engagement
- Connecting Finch learning to content
- Incorporating Finch robots in your classroom
Where and when are the trainings?
The series of 5 virtual trainings with CodeVA will take place every other Tuesday beginning Feb. 9 and the series will conclude on April 20. Dates are 2/9, 2/23, 3/9, 3/23, 4/6, and 4/20. The trainings will be held from 5:00pm - 6:00pm.
Why should I join this training series?
As CodeVA's website states - "As boundaries of technology continue to be pushed it is vitally important to the success of future generations that we prepare our children to be fluent in the literacy of the future, computer science." Learning to teach your students how to program Finch Robots is one way to equip your students to be fluent in computer science for their future success!
OPTIONAL PITCH CHALLENGE
At the end of the training series, participants will have the opportunity to pitch an idea for using computer science in your classroom. Three winners will each receive a set of 7 Finch 2.0 robots!
