It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our President, Faythe Brannon. Faythe was a focused and compassionate advocate for students, teachers, and Computer Science. She had a meaningful impact on both the local and national levels and her presence will be missed by many.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our President, Faythe Brannon. We don't know the circumstances of her death, but we do know that three days prior to he passing, she was actively leading our monthly Chapter Leadership Planning meeting as part of doing the work she loved: providing support for Computer Science teachers. Faythe was a focused and compassionate advocate for students, teachers, and Computer Science. She had a meaningful impact on both the local and national levels and her presence will be missed by many.
Faythe's family has shared an online obituary and tributes site that includes details about her service in Galesburg, IL held Saturday, September 16, 2023. They are also planning a memorial service in Chicago at a later date. We will share those details with you when they are available. Dale Reed has created an online album of photos of Faythe. Feel free to add your favorite photos of her to share with the family.
While we are all still processing the news, we are certain that Faythe would want us to continue the work of supporting Computer Science teachers. Therefore, the September CSTA Chicago Chapter meeting WILL occur as scheduled on September 21, 2023. Our standard agenda will be modified to hold space to remember and honor Fayth for the benefit of those who cannot attend an in-person memorial. An invitation to the virtual meeting including the modified agenda has been sent to all active CSTA members and shared via the CSTAChicago.groups.io list.
