The A+ College Ready E3 Summer Experience provides educators with content-based, pedagogy-driven, teacher-to-teacher training, designed to Equip teachers with the methods, tools, and resources needed to Empower students to be engaged and motivated learners so that we may Expect More for education in Alabama!

Elementary

  • 4 Day CS Fundamentals K-5 - Hewitt-Trussville HS July 11-14
    • This course will focus on CS integration into the elementary curriculum as required by the Computer Science for Alabama Act. Training will include an introduction to CS and coding. Participants will experience content lessons with CS integrated into other disciplines. 
    • Training will end with planning for school integration and creating an integrated lesson plan. 
    • (Suggested Audience: K-5 Teachers, Potentially 6th Grade Teachers & Curriculum Coordinators)

Middle School

  • CS Discoveries Grades 7 / 8: AL Course Code 10012G0608 - Hewitt-Trussville HS July 11-14
    • This course is an introduction to computer science for 7th-8th grade students, designed with a focus on building computational thinking skills. The course covers a wide range of CS topics such as problem solving, design, programming, web development, data, and physical computing. All of the Alabama DLCS 6th-8th grade standards are embedded in the course curriculum. (Suggested Audience: 7th and 8th Grade Teachers)
    • Note: This course has REQUIRED pre-work that must be completed BEFORE training begins. Teachers who complete the entire course, including pre-work, will be eligible to apply for a course-specific permit add-on to their existing professional certification

High School

  • *NEW COURSE Programming Foundations AL Course Code 10152G1001 - In person Hewitt-Trussville HS July 11-14
    • Programming Foundations is an engaging course designed to challenge 9th or 10th grade students who have completed the middle school Computer Science Discoveries - Alabama course, as well as build interest and excitement for the AP Computer Science Principles course. The course’s six units are designed to interest high school students and allow them to explore the possibilities of computing in their future. This course covers all the DLCS 9-12 standards and is included in the new CTE IT COS. 
    • Note: This course has REQUIRED pre-work that must be completed BEFORE training begins. Teachers who complete the entire course, including pre-work, will be eligible to apply for a course-specific permit add-on to their existing professional certification

Teacher Skills Development Bootcamp

  • Snap! BootCamp - Hewitt-Trussville HS July 11-14
    • The Snap! BootCamp provides teachers a chance to dive deep into block coding and to hone their coding skills. Come have fun while learning to be a better programmer. (Suggested Audience: Middle or High School Teachers)
       
    • The Python BootCamp provides teachers a chance to dive deep into text coding and to hone their coding skills. Come have fun while learning to be a better programmer. (Suggested Audience: Middle or High School Teachers)
       
  • Praxis Prep BootCamp - Hewitt-Trussville HS July 11-14
    • The Praxis Prep BootCamp is an opportunity for teachers to receive some in-person assistance to practice the more challenging skills needed for success on the 5652 Praxis exam.  This is not a substitute for the Asynchronous Praxis Prep course.  Registration is only open to teachers who have completed the Asynchronous Praxis Prep Course. (Audience: Teachers Needing Additional Assistance After Completing Async Course)
