From your President:

Hello my little Nutmeggers!  Jumping from UConn's campus this past October 20th to now your local CSTA chapter has been hard work preparing our November meeting and beyond!  We have so much planned we're definitely going over time!  Are you curious about Higher Education Computer Science opportunities for teachers and students?  We've gathered a panel of public and private college Professors ready to share out what their institutions can do for you and your students!

Don't forget CS Ed Week is right around the corner as well!  We will have a variety of copy/paste resources for you to help you run your program!  Keep an eye on your inbox!

A resource for you!  Curious about Machine Learning and how to explain it to your kids?  Check out this fabulous video on how one young-adult used Machine Learning algorithms and a weighted reward system to program a computer to play Pokemon!

Finally, chapter elections will be held this November (and again in May/June) for all Board and Advisor positions.  If you want to throw your hat in the ring and see what leadership is all about this is a great time to join us in helping guide and uplift CS Education in Connecticut!  Reach out to Brad Kjell to nominate yourself for ANY position on our board. (Including mine!)

Stay strong through the Holidays - take it bit by bit.  Your CT CSTA chapter is here for you if you need anything along the way!

~Christopher Kerr

Congressional App Challenge
Volunteer Opportunity

The Congressional App Challenge, the official coding competition of the U.S. House of Representatives, is aimed at encouraging coding and computer science education in middle and high school students.

Currently, Connecticut’s 1st congressional district’s Representative, John Larson, is participating, and their office would love to have help from one community member to judge student app submissions.

This wouldn’t require a large time commitment, and judges could be anyone from a computer science professor or college student to an employee at a tech-related company.

If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Sofia: spv@neted.org.

6-12th Grade Event
