CSTA National Conference & CT Summer Meetup

The annual CSTA 2023 National Conference is approaching quickly and we have an exciting in-person meetup opportunity for our chapter!  The virtual conference will take place from July 11-13th and our chapter will host a meetup in Southington on July 12th as part of CSTA 2023.

Come meet up with other CS educators in Connecticut at the beautiful Factory Square in Southington! Bring the whole family for an early evening of fun, food, and fellowship!
We'll be hanging out at Witch Doctor Brewing, but Factory Square has something for everyone. We'll likely head over to The Lab @ Kraftwitch for dinner, visit Perkatory Coffee Roasters for a pick me up, grab some dessert at Rosie's Royal Chocolates or Hardcore Sweets Bakery, and then have fun at Gamecraft Arcade, Escapism Escape Rooms, or Montana Axe Throwing! Some of these venues do require reservations, so grab some friends and bring them along!

To join us, please register for the national conference (it's online!) and then include our session, "CSTA Connecticut Meetup at Factory Square in Southington". This gives us an idea of how many people are coming and helps to support our chapter.

We hope to see you there!

New Resource from CT CSTA!
K-12 Pathways

Check out the new K-12 Pathway Resource from CT CSTA!  It takes a village to create a successful K-12 Computer Science Pathway in your district.  From K-5, 6-7, and 9-12 the strategies are varied and the approaches are fluid.  On this page we provide guidance on how to promote a successful K-12 pathway at each education level and as a whole.

This resource is a work-in-progress and we could use your help to make it better. Do you have suggestions for how to improve this resource?  Please contact us and share your ideas!

We are looking for coaches (those with more than three years of CS teaching experience) and teachers to be coached (those with less than three years of CS teaching experience). Stipends are available for coaches and coachees who are accepted into the programs.

We ask those interested in the 2023-24 academic year to apply by July 30, 2023.  Visit www.cscoachingforequity.org/get-involved to get started.
