Our next CSTA-AZ Tucson Meetup will focus on CS Education Week Activities. December 9th through 15th is National CS Ed Week (https://csedweek.org/) - this is typically when schools or districts run some type of Hour of Code community or family event. Come to our CSTA meeting to share strategies & activities that groups can try with their students or community to increase participation & awareness around Computer Science. This is a free event - educators of all grade levels & experience levels welcome
Agenda
  • 5:30-6:15 - Arrivals & Dinner & Announcements
  • 6:15-7:00 - Computer Science Education Week Activities
    • December 9th-13th is Computer Science Education Week (in honor of Grace Hopper's Birthday on December 9th). This is typically when schools or classes host an Hour of Code event. More information about these initiatives here: https://csedweek.org/
    • We will spend time investigating different activities that could be run during CSEdWeek in both computer science & non-computer science classes. This is a great opportunity for teachers to find activities that could be integrated into their classes, especially at the elementary and middle school level.
    • Activities brainstormed during this time can also be used as recruitment activities for the Spring semester
