About The Presenters

Jesus Huerta is a a 6th grade teacher for Calexico Unified School District, who proudly represents the Kennedy Gardens elementary Eagles! He is currently in his 7th year of teaching. Jesus has always believed that technology is for all and not exclusionary.  He is a Google Certified Educator level 2, Leroy Finkel Fellow, past CUE STEAMpunk playground coordinator and also coordinator for the Leroy Finkel Fellowship. 
 
Dr. Emily Thomforde is a freelance CS curriculum developer and CS education advocate. She previously served as the Computer Science Coordinator at the San Mateo County Office of Education. Emily is a BAFTA-winning video game developer, and has seven years of experience teaching computer programming, software development and engineering at libraries, prisons, museums, and public schools locally and abroad. Her curriculum development credits include Vidcode, Hopscotch, Code.org, Code Combat, and BrainPOP. Emily holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh.
 
Amanda Haughs is an award-winning educator and learning designer at the Campbell School of Innovation. She is passionate about computer science education, making and design thinking in elementary classrooms to develop creativity, divergent thinking, and problem solving skills in students. As a 2015 PBS Digital Innovator, 2016 Silicon Valley CUE Outstanding Educator, Google Certified Educator, Apple Teacher and Raspberry Pi Certified Educator, she leverages technology and problem-based design in the classroom to personalize learning and engage students in more authentic and meaningful work.
 
Heidi Baynes is a Google Certified Trainer and Innovator and Raspberry Pi Certified Educator. She works as a Coordinator of Educational Technology for the Riverside County Office of Education. She specializes in the integration of technology into classroom instruction and is a strong advocate of computer science education and the #CSforALL movement. Her experience in K-12 public education includes online, blended and traditional classroom models where she has taught multiple subjects and grade levels. Additionally, she co-facilitates the Riverside County Esports League available to all secondary schools in Riverside County.
