IMSCA Virtual Town Hall Legislative Forum

IMSCA Members:

Please plan to attend IMSCA’s Virtual Town Hall Legislative Forum!  The event will be held Friday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom.  IMSCA has an exciting panel of legislators who will provide IMSCA members with an overview of important issues facing our state that the Illinois General Assembly will tackle during the spring 2021 legislative session.  This event is designed to provide IMSCA members with a unique opportunity to receive an “insider’s view” from key Illinois State Senators including Senate President Don HarmonAssistant Majority Leader Linda Holmes and Senator Ram Villivalam.  Each panelist will provide a 10-15 minute presentation and a brief Q & A period will follow their presentations.

IMSCA staff encourages you to invite your association officers, committee members and colleagues to attend this event to learn more about legislative issues important to the Illinois construction industry and your business.

Upcoming Events

You will be challenged to develop a strategy for dealing with these leaders and learn tactics to help you manage up within your organization.
M & A Specialty Contractor Market Update: What's on the Other Side of 2020?
PRESENTED BY BRETT DEARING WITH CERITY PARTNERS AND BRUCE ALTMAN WITH EUREKA CAPITAL PARTNERS, LLC
Thursday, March 11 | 9 a.m.

Despite COVID, many specialty contractors performed well in 2020, particularly those that serviced essential businesses.

The industry remains fragmented though consolidation is occurring. Deal activity in the space has continued at a healthy clip and business valuations have been strong, with both private equity groups and strategics attracted to the non-discretionary nature of many services specialty contractors offer.

Specialty contractors considering a sale in the coming years should be mindful of organizing their books and records and making sure that their financial statements reflect an alignment between the timing of when work is performed and when revenues and costs are recognized.

Instructor: Nic Bittle

Our leaders have critical knowledge and insight that need shared with our next leaders. Many of these individuals will leave our industry in the next several years, but will this valuable information and experience leave with them? The choice is yours.

In this 90 minute virtual program, we will take a first step and look at what it takes to develop our next level of leaders. We will identify the common pitfalls and missteps many companies make when beginning this process.

Join us for a virtual conversation around the insights and best practices successful organization use to transfer the knowledge, skills and experience of their best into the next generation. For more information, click here to view Nic Bittle's video on the class.

Target Audience – Owners & Decision Makers
Mitigating Risk: Understanding the Construction Claims Process
Thursday, March 4 | 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Instructor: Tim Wentz

Claims have long been identified as one the most significant issues that face contractors, owners and architect/engineers alike. Invariably, claims create an adverse environment that often prevents long-term relationships, the foundation of a strong company. This presentation investigates the common causes of claims and then builds on that knowledge to generate common sense strategies to avoid claims and manage risk.
