What happens when the CT CSTA gets involved with national CSEdWeek?  EVERYTHING!
Hundreds of classrooms all over Connecticut celebrated computer science education doing Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek), 9-14 December.    Originally conceived by the Computing in the Core coalition, Code.org® organizes CSEdWeek as a grassroots campaign supported by 350 partners and 100,000 educators worldwide.  CSEdWeek is held in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906) who obtained her Ph.D. here in Connecticut at Yale University in New Haven. She now has a residential college named after her there.

Connecticut’s Commissioner of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona kicked off the week at the Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy and the CREC Montessori Magnet School.   To the students at the Academy, Dr. Cardona expressed, “You’re a step ahead of everyone else. Your knowledge and your skill set is a step ahead of most of the state of Connecticut. Kudos to you. You’re living examples of what we want to create in the state.”  Cardona explained that the State Department of Education, is in the process of creating guidelines for computer science education, which is now required at all grade levels in schools.
