Drinking water utilities are asked to participate in a survey that is collecting data for consumer complaints at water utilities during COVID-19. As many have heard or read, COVID-19 infections are associated with sensory loss of smell (and flavor), and also a condition called parosmia. People who experience a loss of taste or smell from COVID-19 may experience, about 3 months later, a horrible disruption of their sense of smell, which is called parosmia. For example, drinking coffee or water may trigger a memory of the smell of gasoline or feces. It is an interesting issue that scientists want to understand better and ultimately resolve, and for which information from water companies may provide insight. This request was published in the April 2021 Journal AWWA Industry News (page 88).  If you are interested in participating in the survey, please click here to learn more.
